Farewell - by Murdo
Category: Site News on Thursday May 08, 2008

Well its been an absolute blast getting GamersFiles off the ground... and a big thanks goes to codin, mitac and the other close friends who have contributed to the content and support.

Due to prolonged unemployment, there is no way I can keep this service running. It is, as you can see, 100% advert free and unfortunately, that costs money!

All the best, maybe see you all with a new site one day....

..more on the new ATI Catalyst 8.2's - by Murdo
Category: Site News on Monday February 18, 2008

Ok so I have just tested the WindowsXP drivers, and so far so good! What I did notice however, that instead of "fixing" the bug with the little white square, they have simply included an older version of the CCC that what was with the 8.1's!! (well, thats what the installer told me anyway!)

Regardless, seems to be ok now... you can grab them here:

32bit WindowsXP Catalyst 8.2 (46mb)
64bit WindowsXP (coming soon)

32bit Windows Vista (coming soon)

New ATI Drivers, Catalyst 8.2 - by Murdo
Category: Graphics on Monday February 18, 2008

Some of you may of noticed the new ATI Catalyst drivers have been out a few days now.. (v8.2, dated 13th Feb 2008). Amongst other things, I noticed this in the rlease notes:

  • A white dot no longer appears on the windows desktop when launching the Catalyst Control Center. However, this issue may still be experienced under the Windows XP operating system. Further details can be found in topic number 737-31715

This worries me a little as I am still primarily using WindowsXP... However, I will post back about this when I have tested! GamersFiles.net Mirror's for these files will be posted shortly.

New Filetypes @ Gamersfiles! - by Murdo
Category: Site News on Monday February 18, 2008

As of today, we will be offering "original exe" files for selected titles. This means that if your game EXE gets corrupted, or a "patch" goes wrong, you can always fall back to the original! Keep an eye on the new forum section : http://www.gamersfiles.net/forum/index.php?board=70.0 for which files we add :)

White Pixel Bug - by Murdo
Category: Graphics on Thursday February 14, 2008

Do you recognise this??

but you would rather have this?

Well the problem is with the new(ish) ATI 8.1 drivers... simply "Exit" the Systray App, and the white 5x5 pixels will vanish!

You could also try the hotfix found here:
